I graduated this past Saturday from Ohio University’s Journalism school, and I’ve been home in Cincinnati since Sunday. My girlfriend and I are leaving early Saturday morning to drive across the country in three days to Los Angeles, where we both have internships and jobs. I’ve always wanted to do to the extended road trip thing, and I’m anxious and excited for Saturday to arrive.

Here are a few snaps from my short, but meaningful, time at home with my family and friends.

The World I Am Owned To

I am so, very proud to have been a part of Soul of Athens this year. I’ve always admired the hard work and the stunning visuals that have imbued the project in previous editions, and I was happy to contribute. Here is a link to the full story.

I worked with Emine Ziyatdinova, an extremely talented, first-year grad student from Ukraine, to complete this project. She shot the slide show with a medium-format film camera to give the visuals an anachronistic feel. We spent rainy, cold, mid-April nights in Ripley, West Virginia, chatting with people. What we realized is that these individuals, odd as their clothes are, are more like us than we thought. They seek family and friends and comfort, and they have forged their own niche in the world of the SCA.

Enjoy.
